GMP+ provides a framework for:

  • Identify the essential principles of food hygiene that apply to the entire food chain (including from primary production to the final consumer), to ensure that food is safe and suitable for human consumption.</ li>
  • Recommend a HACCP-based approach as a means to improve food safety.
  • Indicate how to implement these principles.
  • Guide on specific codes for sectors of the food chain, processes or raw materials, in order to stimulate the hygiene requirements of those sectors.
